I guess those of you who follow my journal here (or my blog) would know that I've been going through some rough times. I may consider myself recovered from my ED but I do still struggle with depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress symptoms.

I am also a very "skills" and practical type of person.

So, when I noticed my depression and general mood dropping I got proactive (no not proactiv(TM) that stuff burnt my face) And redesigned my toolkit. I used to have it in a box but it's grown beyond that (and my pets don't like being in a box).

So in true blog plug style - here is a few of the things in my toolkit (that I took pretty pictures of)
http://365recoverydays.blogspot.com/2011/06/day-96-toolkit.html

But not pictured is:

*My private blog (email) with my therapist
*A card to the unit that I am an OP (they have phone staff time allocated)
*Colouring-in books, textas and pencils
*A scrapbook with my worksheets, handouts, and other quotes I have found
*A letter writing kit - I often write to my Vanaema (grandma) to let her know about my life
*play-doh - as long as I don't um, eat it...
* chai tea
*peppermint tea
*my teddies
* the collection of cartoons on my computer
* my computer
* a pill-box with a single dose of my PRN medications
* magazines to collage with (and safety scissors)
* my serenity journal

So, what's can you put in YOUR recovery toolbox?

I thought of having an actual box and putting there some stuff than I might want reach for when I'm down.So I'd put there:
-coloring-in books,pencils,chalks,blank pieces of paper,
-peppermint,
-camera,
-my pets (2 chinchillas and the-mot-beautiful-cat-on-Earth),
-books,
-my journal and recovery books,notebooks,
-motivational quotes,
-my teddy bear which I hug when I'm sad...

I can't think of anything else at the moment :)

I love this. I'm going to find a suitable box.

In my recovery toolbox will go...

- A business card for b-eat (National Eating Disorders Association in the UK), with their crisis hotline on the back
- Chai teabags
- My recovery workbook
- A box set of a Friends season
- A notebook and pencil for writing out my thoughts
- Bach Rescue Remedy spray
- Concealer stick (I always feel better after I've re-applied makeup)
- A CD of kickass recovery songs
- Some letters that my friends and family wrote me when I first got very sick
- Photos of me teaching the schoolkids in Africa last year
- A list of all the things I am without my eating disorder

What I'll toss into my recovery box:
- A large, blank notebook
- An entire pack of pens (felt tips, fountain. highlighter, fine liners etc)
- My top 10 favourite books (the majority of which remind me heroism isn't all about the size of your jeans)
- Lavender Spray
- Old photos of happy memories
- My Ipod with a happy playlist on loop
- A scrapbook full of quotes and pictures to inspire me to beat this illness
- Scissors and a glue stick for making collages (so therapeutic)
- My favourite cds
- A nice pillow, duvet and cuddly animals C: (I'm gonna need a big box!)

My doggies
A pic of me and the fiancé dancing.
Phone numbers of friends to call.
My pros and cons list.
A notebook with inspiring quotes and photos.
A page from my journal about a good day
A list of things I want to do that aren't Ed related. Like climbing killamanjaro, hiking trails I haven't done, plans for Christmas and seeing a Tom petty concert.
Knowing there's a lot of power in the words, "I made a mistake." and knowing I can do the next right thing.
