They're all gorgeous

Lily Cole is the only model who doesn't trigger me. :)
I wish I could look like her though

I'm trying to be less obsessed with models lately.
I don't buy fashion magazines anymore and I focus on clothes when I look at fashion photos. I try really hard not to look at their bodies...
I find that it's helping so far :)

I started this topic because I really want to be able to see beauty in all different types of bodies and faces..

I don't know..

I'm afraid that magazines like vogue will always trigger me. A lot of my non eating disordered friends feel very self concious when they flip through those magazines as well... It's like self-torture I think. It's really hard just to focus on the clothes!

Oh and.. :D

Why not post pictures of people we know that we find beautiful?

I agree that I keep thinking of my friends when I see this thread, BUT...I think we should only do this with permission from the friends we want to post pictures of.

By the way, for those who are struggling with developing a new appreciation for other body types, I STRONGLY recommend taking a figure drawing class. I'm in one now, and our models are other students. Seeing them nude has helped me realize that a) people's bodies are extremely different, b) the body types we accept as ideal are FAR from normal, and c) even though these women don't fit the "ideal" type, their bodies are all beautiful.

Drawing them really makes you appreciate the beautiful shadows and curves of their bodies and gestures. You stop thinking of them as people that you compare to an ideal and start appreciating the bodies for what they are. :)

Also, random side note about that: I knew that people have pretty different bodies, but I didn't know that people have really, REALLY different breasts. Who knew???

So yeah. Figure drawing is an enlightening experience for all of those of us who are trying to redefine our understanding of "ideal" bodies.

*shifty eyes* I'm posting a man. The only man I'd go straight for. The man I want to BE. Also, I ran out of women. Because I just did. And my mind isn't working right now. He's unconvential! and um... beautiful. And um... Really.

Shut up. I know he's not a woman but he's still fits what is being said to me. He doesn't fit the standards of beauty either but is still amazing.

Kiyoharu!!!

Ok, I'm a bad person. *hangs head* But I still want to be him. Or do him. (He's just so... whoa.....)
