This is an interesting read, but be very careful if you decide to go to her site; many of the pix are fine and show all sizes, shapes and bodies, but if you are triggered by skinny pix, please do me a favour and don't use WBB as a ticket to feed any proana tendencies. Remember, you are here to recover and it is your responsibility to stay away from things that work against that:

I really admire her for this. I think it's brave and amazing. I met her once an she really is extremely nice and all about her fans. I fully support her in this.

I haven't looked at the site but I have been reading articles about this site and lady gaga's interviews around this. While I do admire lady gaga and body accepting is great. I just hope it isn't more harmful then good. Lady gaga still struggles with an ed and recently interviewed about her "healthier" size she also made claims about needing to diet.

Its great to see honesty but its also a fine line with celebrities that regardless of their motives they can glamorise something so serious.

^ I agree. I'm dubious about a number of her comments around this (particularly one about claiming "her boyfriend prefers her this way." Sigh). However, I fully applaud her refusal to accept body shaming bullshit from the media.

I think I'll split the video off into its own thread. The debate about Lady Gaga is valid and important, but the video is much more powerful and deserves not to get lost in Lady Gaga's struggles for body acceptance, privately and publicly.

I think this is a very good decision.

Partly brilliant - honesty is hard to come by in the land of the celebrity, and getting fans involved to share their stories is great - comfort & strength in numbers.

Partly absurd - i remember her famously stating popstars don't eat, and i know the thinner she got the more she paraded around in tiny outfits and that is abusing her position to a certain extent.

I'm very torn about how this makes me feel.

It makes me feel like: She SHOULD be doing this, but ONLY if she was better.
I suspect she'll lose again soon and be back to promoting starvation because that's what happens when you have an eating disorder.

Well, for me at least, if i'm fat, i'm all 'yeah let's beat this shit together and accept ourselves' - then when 'im thin, i'm all 'holycrap i better wear more black stuff cos i ALMOST look thin now... just a few more... people can finally realize i'm not an obese needy greedy hideous lard' and so on and so forth - its the battle inside my head which goes round and round, and i'm not sure she's out of the woods either to be honest.
