I'd love to stop oversleeping. Any advice?

Let's stop and think for a moment here. You are still in recovery, no? Which means that you are eating a minimum of ??? calories a day and your body is still repairing internal damage. The body is most effective at repair while we sleep, so there may be unconscious prompts from our bodies to rest more. In addition, repair is damned hard work; your body is working its ass off to get at all that damage and thus draining your energy more than may seem reasonable. If this is the case, you are not oversleeping.

However, if this is not the case or if you are sleeping because you just want an escape from reality, then different responses may be called for. I don't know what they are, because right now I couldn't bear my depression if it wasn't for sleeping a lot...

True. Plus I'm really technically a night person and so don't fall right asleep at night. And I AM consistent. I'm just consistent at waking at 10:30 when I feel it should be 7:30.

Hey Emma, thanks for asking. Good. I still do it a bit, but it has noticeably lessened. I'll keep at it :) Buying lots of veg/varied carbs and proteins has helped a bit. I'm going to start buying more soups and quick meals so if I'm feeling lazy I have something quick and easy to have (which if often why I opt for breakfast foods).

Kelly - i don't think you are 'over sleeping' but i do think trying to wake up earlier would improve your mood overall since it is stressing you so much. Now... 7:30 am is rather early. what about maybe trying to wake up at 9:30? In my mind, i feel better when i wake up before the "double digit's" or before the afternoon starts lol. I'd say maybe set that as your goal... to get up and out of your bed between 9:30-10 every morning and see how you feel. If that feels good, stick with it.. if you still feel shitty, maybe try 9-9:30. I don't think you need to be up at 7:30 am... not unless you have something to get to that early.

Your activity level isn't too high. You are about average i'd say (as we have discussed before). I think that sleeping in is a great thing, but if it is messing with your head, try waking up an hour earlier and get yourself moving. Once you start moving, you tend to feel better, yes?

Thank you. I might try to move it to 9:30. I just want to have more time to do things so I don't have to work so hard/fast to get things done. I'd rather be able to get up earlier and work slower if that makes sense. And yes I do.

I have gotten rather ridiculous weighing myself again. I'm going to try to stop for just one month (eventually longer but baby steps!)

I'm going to stop counting calories as a 'safe' way to follow my meal plan because its counter productive and its not safer to pick foods or manipulate my meal plan requirements.
I'm blackening out all nutritional information on the packaging of foods in my house. And try to distract guestimating as I prepare meals.
I'm going to see if I can do it for an entire week first, to see if I can successfully do it while meeting meal plan quidelines and then reassess. (Yes I'm also aware that calorie info provided are not completely accurate anyway but its a bad unhelpful habit)

I'm not going to exercise today.

Yeah, the weather's nice and it would be a good day for a run. Yeah, it's my 'exercise day'. But no. I don't feel 100% and to exercise would be completely disordered.

How'd you go Vega? Hope you managed to stay in and give your body a rest!

Tomorrow (Monday), I am going to ring the doctors up and get an appointment in as soon as possible :-) Not urgent, but I have been putting it off. Tomorrow is the day :-)

As soon as I finish posting this I will do the following:
1) shut down my computer
2) eat a snack and log it
3) go to bed!
