Firstly, I think the Xanga blog rings should be closely monitored: click 'Weight Issues' and you come across endless pro-ana groups. I used to browse through them in sickened fascination - never willing to join in (I did not choose my eating disorder) but triggered none the less. Has anyone else been upset by this?

Also, Wii Fit. The BMIs for it seem totally different to reality. E.g. when my BMI was 16 it told me I was 'ideal'. My thirteen year old sister, who's a gymnast, was told she was 'overweight'. I was fuming. How have they gotten away with it?
xx

There always seems to be weight loss ads on the side of every bloody website these days. It definitely makes me furious!!

Didn't know that Wii Fit was so off though. I was actually considering buying it... but I'll be looking into it first by the sounds of it.

Thanks for letting me know.

Same story at livejournal. Tens of thousands of pro-ana blogs.

There's a thread on here on the Wii Fit somewhere...

WII fit told both me and my hubby we were normal.

He takes a medication that makes him skinner then a Rattlesnake, and me well.

Were normal! <_<

My experience with Xanga and the Eating Disorder community was very similar.
I still blog there, about my recovery, day to day life, and occasionally about alternative fashion.

But if you think that's bad, stay the hell way from Tumblr.

It is ALL about how you choose to use these things.

They themselves are not bad... it's how you CHOOSE to use them.

use responsibly

You don't have to weigh yourself to use Wii Fit.

EXACTLY -- see what I wrote above.

I don't understand why people are complaining about the Wii Fit that way when they CHOOSE to use it in that manner... it doesn't make sense to me

Sort of like Tumblr... I have a Tumblr account, but I pay attention to which Feeds/blogs I follow... You have the choice of HOW you use something.
