Maybe it's a conspiracy to proactively encourage eating disorders in mainstream culture. Rather than it being a fringe element of culture. To respond to it is better than to ignore it and pretend it isn't there.

^You just know somehow they'd have some excuse up their sleeve like it being an ironic statement about the rise in osteoporosis because of the dieting culture or something. I don't trust big corpoprations not to be prepared with ways to make themselves look good/better in any situation.

It's still important to say something.

Otherwise... they will assume it's alright to take it a step further.

Yeah...it is important to draw a line in the sand and say something if, when and how you feel able to. I did some...I think it was called "street theatre" or "guerilla theatre" (I can't remember, so don't quote me) when I was in university, where a group of us would all come from separate places but gather in a location and perform a 5 to 10 minute skit on a political issue, and then disperse before anyone could do anything. It's not illegal, we were not creating a disturbance or disturbing the peace, but the annoyance factor did get attention from those we were targetting and the action would draw the attention of shoppers; whether we changed shoppers' perspectives was less important than the fact that many people will leave a store without making a purchase if there is a fuss happening. Also, depending on the ownership structure (i.e., whether an outlet is franchised), one complaint or action can have an exponential impact, if a retailer believes they will start losing sales.

Hmm, if I just had one and had the time, wonder what would happen if I wore it and sat outside the store with a sign saying "I bought this shirt in this store" for a while? Wouldn't want to encourage it's sales though! But I admit I'm curious again... I dunno why when I hate people looking at me.
Even better if I only had my DEXA results to display alongside!
Yeah, I know I'm suddenly full of daft ideas I won't carry out.

^Even Love my Bonemass would be better than Bones. But I think they should make a Love my Imperfections shirt or something instead! Now that would be a statement worth saying.

I love all of those ideas - both of you - how about making and selling T-shirts like that? I'd be the first to order!

To wear the shirt would be to encourage it in others. We are monkeys and we copy each other. To protest may or may not achieve results... to write letters may go ignored... unless many many people all get upset and write in (which does happen when something is offensive)... or to post blogs, websites and more... to draw attention to the unethical business practices of the fashion industry.

When they say, "What it really means is "love someone TO their bones"... why doesn't the shirt SAY THAT then?? If that's what it means, why doesn't it say that?? They are trying to be sneaky while still catering specifically to the pro-ana demographic. They are trying to drag pro-ana into mainstream thought and behavior. It's a conspiracy. I call shenanigans on them.

This is so sick. It is horrible. I can't believe they would actually do something like that!! Unbelievable.

Why would they even think of something like that?

Any way I reckon we should create a petition on the site and get evryone to write their names on it and send it to the manufacturers and the producers of that show, I also think that with that petition we should send a list of suggestions of more appropriate phrases to use.
I have another one I LOVE ORANGES!!!

What do you guys think should we start an Orange Revolution?
We will show those sick minded people who produce such filfth that the world is not going to just sit back and take the crap that they are dishing out.

^^^Sorry that bit was a bit harsh but it's the way I feel.^^^
