Argentine senators have approved a bill declaring obesity and other eating disorders diseases covered by the nation's public and private health care programs.
What was interesting about this was the prohibition against the media releasing diets that are not supported by health professionals. I don't have enough info to feel that they are completely on track (how many "doctor approved diets are out there) or that legislation is the right policy approach, but I thought it was an interesting start.

The obesity bill was boosted by a popular Argentine reality TV show - "A Question of Weight" - that helped obese contestants slim down.
Anyone notice a sudden surge in reality television shows that encourage competitive dieting, weight loss obsessions, etc?
