Its sad because its been trivialized by overexposure. Its a part of our culture...just like the inflatable halloween "fat costumes". Everyone always found those funny...

especially the fact that its a plus sized costume...as if all larger women must desire to be thin. Or make fun of thin. Love/hate it. Its so STUPID.

Words can't describe how angry whatever that company was has just made me.

I hate it. And I hate how it is in the "sexy" category of costumes. How is anorexia "sexy" ?

I don't think they meant the anorexia part as the
sexy part. They obviously didn't think @ all .
I think they meant it to be something like
a nurses costume, like a naughty nurse.
but yeah . :?

It's something I'd have expected to find in a SIMS game.
VERY bad taste PLUS ignorance.

Well I'm not surprised..
Unfortunately anorexia is considered sexy by some poeple., not as an illness.

I was talking with a friend of mine who doesnt know about my ed at all and we were discussing 'Alexander' the movie, and I said 'Angelina Jolie's so beautiful!" and she said ' yea she is but she's looking like an anorexic nowdays and I dont like that, its not her style".
I almsot told her that anorexia's NOT a style, its a deadly disease , but just nodded and said 'yeah.."[/i]

would they make a bulimia one? with a toilet attached and sick or something? no.

would they make an alcoholic costume, someone who cannot pull themselves up from rock bottom.

what about a junkie?

what about a cancer patient?

I was pondering this thought the other day. Why is it certain diseases and conditions (I'm not for calling EDs diseases personally) have become 'funny'? At my college and pretty much since junior school to say 'you've got AIDS' and write it on people's bags and the back of lab coats is considered hilarious (May I point out I have NEVER joined in with that and have given a few lectures to people doing it) but if I wrote 'you have cancer' on the back of someone's shirt I'm pretty certain people would be horrified. The same goes for self harm. Why is it an acceptable joke and jest to accuse someone of being a self harmer? but it wouldn't be to suggest someone was bulimic or an alcoholic? but it would be if they were anorexic?
It's seen as acceptable to call someone as 'gay' as an insult but it wouldn't be to call them 'Muslim/christian/Hindu etc'.... I don't get it.
Something weird has happened to society's morals and I can't see the line. There certainly is a line because some things are acceptable as an insult or jest but others aren't... :-?

Ignorance, they hide it by making fun of what they can't or won't understand or accept.

I think it's funny. Considering that it's in the same company as Frankenstein and Dracula.
