I may be overreacting here due to my own issues.

Apparently, October is now Droptober. (http://droptober.com.au/). The goal is to lose 2 kilos or more.

Yep, lose 2 kilos. Not a more general health goal like exercising regularly or eating more fruit and vegetables. Solely a number on the scale. How bad are you going to feel if you've done everything right, made some good healthy changes, but you only lose 1.5 kilos? I mean isn't safe and healthy weight loss meant to be slow and gradual? Why not focus on being healthy? Why the focus on numbers and weight? Society is already messed up when it comes to weight as it is.

I think the idea is to get "sponsored" by people to raise money for a children's charity. And they do mention a lot in there about making a permanent lifestyle change towards health.

Although I agree the site is nasty, because it implies EVERYONE could stand to lose 5 lbs. There's nothing like, "if you already follow these tips and are at a healthy weight, good for you!"
