Mac used this same ad in 2007, and was bombarded by letters that prompted them to take it down and issue an apology very quickly.

I realize Pretzel Chips removed the "you can never be too thin ad"... and then replaced it with "tastes as good as skinny feels"... and then the one about being "thin and stacked".

Way to offend just about every woman, everywhere!

the thing is... this sort of advertising would not make it's way to our eyes or ears if we as a society did not at some core level value what it's saying.

Change the mentality and the ads will change... they'd have to.

I honestly don't know how these companies keep getting away with this crap!

because we as a society on some level agree with it. if we didn't... they wouldn't be able to.

Well, you know, they aren't really getting away with it.

They received enough backlash to remove them.

I found a video on youtube of a young man "vandalizing" one of the ads. He had printed off a page with the words, "ACTUALLY, YOU CAN" and taped it underneath the words, then taped articles and photographs of those suffering with anorexia, including many about young men and women who died from it.

I didn't link the video because it's very triggering (it zooms in on the photos and some of them I recognize from pro-ana sites). I think this is great activism. Writing to the company is just as important, but so is making sure the public (the people who view these ads) have the correct information.

I found this, on a different site, but supposedly from PretzelChips:Image
