My husband just told me that they sell a scale that automatically will twitter your weight when you weight yourself on it.
He said it's good for accountability and motivation.
I think it's horrible.

Dear God...I agree. Why is there a need to broadcast your weight to the entire world? I sure as heck don't want to know...

wow that's horrible! It's hard enough for me to write down what I eat in my own personal journal, I can't understand broadcasting it. Unless it was a diet twitter between 2 friends or something. Idk. Weird.

Unless you are required to write down what you eat for a nutritionist, why write it down at all? Just a thought..

I don't think it's inherently bad. It's just a tool like any other scale - and plenty of people keep online diet/weight loss blogs, so a Twitter-enabled scale is just the next technological step. Like anything else that has to do with weight and numbers (and especially the public sharing of said information), though, it's something that could be incredibly harmful to someone with an eating disorder or body image and self-esteem issues.
