Maybe I'm just naive, but this totally stunned me. I can't believe that health insurance companies in Canada and the US have investedhuge amounts of money in the fast food industry, much less the reference to their investments in tobacco at the end of the article. And we actually get our seconday insurance from one of the companies. I wish there was a way of influencing them.

It actually goes beyond that. In schools across america, there is a lack of funding for healthy meals, so fast food restraunts pay the school to come in and serve their food. It is because ofthe fast food lobbiest in washington padding the pockets of politicians. How can we expect the youth of today to be able to concentrate and do well on tests and homework if their diet is less than healthy? What role does this play into when it comes to people knowing about nutrition? Right now a third of elementary school aged kids are obese, and 70% of them will have obesity related serious problems in their life. (such as a heart attack or diabities) For the first time, studies have shown that the life expectancy of those children is far lower than their parents. Sometimes I wonder if the insurance companies invest into the fast food because they want more "business"
It really is a mind-fuck. And there are no winners in this game.
