This is absolutely astonishing, and a sign that we apparently have not sunk as low as we can on the diet industry:

"File not found"

I've seen some horrible ads though. There is one in paticular that states "ARE YOU A SKINNY FAT" and then gives a phone number to call to get diet pills. I HATE them all.

Edited because I worte "die" instead of "diet" fraudian slip? profound statement? hmmmm..

Oh Jeez! That is completely ridiculous! It is similar to people getting their mouths wired shut to lose weight. Ugh. :(

Ok, now that I've read it - WTF? It's a starvation diet that relies on pain? Yet they causually mention seeing a psycologist and a nurtitionist... They are obliously quacks. No REAL doctor would condone this.

"I don't think pain is the way to try to encourage people to change their lifestyles," said Dr. Yoni Freedhoff, an Ottawa-based physician who specializes in bariatics, the management of obesity.

"If there was a quick and easy way to do this, we'd all be skinny . . . The notion that pain is required to teach these people what to do is not only a ridiculous assertion but unnecessarily cruel."

well i guess there will always be messed up people doing messed up things. i just wish it didn't get reported on as though it was an aspect of relevant reality.

Freedhoff says it takes one to three years of "consciously working" at a new behaviour to forge it into a habit.

Quick fixed are never really going to work. After all it doesn't take you a month to gain enough weight to be classed "overweight/obese" so it seems silly to put your body through that much pain

When I got my tongue pierced and every month when I get my braces tightened it hurts to eat solids. And, if anything it frustrated me... Sure they will lose weight but it's bound to have some psychological conditioning about the response to food even on a subconscious level. (I took behav. psych last semeter)

But, while you can't eat a triple cheeseburger you can still drink an extra large milkshake...

And the sadly amazing part is that people will pay for this. Another example of what people are willing to do to lose weight.

PS. For $3,000, I'll knock all your teeth out, so you can't eat solid food. It's probably the best way to lose weight quickly.

They might aswell just keep wiering their mouths shut... ludicris.

Although consider those with COE or severe obesity, the intent is to help, even if it does go askew.
