Word. Definitely when it comes to these sorts of things. How horrible that people make fun of it.
I remember once I was sat in class drinking a can of diet coke, and some stupid girl came in and said "oh, I bet that's your lunch, Katie, but don't drink too much, there's a whole calorie in that can.".
I'm not normally violent, but I just chucked the can at her.

And yeah I remember Lizzie McGuire and Hey Arnold were always pretty good with life lessons and that sort of thing.

Found this interesting link, it's about body image and kid's cartoons: http://www.drrobynsilverman.com/2008/06 ... ell-phone/

Ditto.

regarding the cyanide and happiness cartoon- my brother just bought the book the other day, and I was looking through it and saw that. I took a photo of it and it's now my wallpaper on my mobile. It reminds me of how utterly daft my eating disorder actually is, and whenever I look at my phone I think "if I believe that, I'll believe anything"

When I was in school I honestly thought that myself, and one other girl, three years below me who was hospitalised in year 7 (and my friends took immense pleasure from calling her an "anorexic stick insect") were the only two people ever to have had an eating disorder in my school. Even when I was in sixth form I believed that everybody else had a totally normal relationship with food (because that's what I saw from the amazing people around me).

Yeah, I got lots of comments like that... It sounds like this girl was being malevolent, but I think most of the people at my school weren't malicious. I think it was sort of their way of expressing that they'd noticed a significant change in me but not knowing how to address it properly.

Harleystreet, I don't recall reading an intro from you, but I have to ask: are you here because you have an eating disorder, or are you here to advertise Harley Street psychotherapists? If the former, why do you have the URL in your signature? If the latter, well, I don't think this is the place for that, although I stand to be corrected if others disagree.

I agree with Spender.

If you want to advertise your services, it might be appropriate to contact the administrator of the board.
