I'm ready!!! I want recovery so damn badly. I do not know where to begin though. I guess talking about it is the first step!!?? I do try to reach out for support when I am struggling a lot! I just wiish I had a better support system. I can't afford therapists out of pocket and I do not have good insurance.

This is a fantastic post & I'm glad it's been bumped.

I've always resonated with this post. It's a shame that the author never came back. I send a copy of this to every person involved with my care, if I have their email addresses. There's a program in Vancouver called, "readiness", and it's preparatory to a residential program, and while I understand the rationale I think the treatment community needs to pay more attention to willingness.

I ain't "ready" to go ip tomorrow, but yes, I sure as hell am willing.

I feel like I'm not "ready" to do many things but I will be once I'm "perfect", whether perfect means a clothes size or a weight or something else. But I do feel like I'm "nearly there" and will be able to do it soon. Same deal with recovery. ED constantly lowers my goal posts and changes what "ready" means so I can never ever expect to feel ready. This is hard to accept. Does that make sense to anyone?

Yes, it makes sense. Which is why it's best not to wait until you're ready: you'll either be dead or sectioned by that point. Learn to be willing, instead.

I may not be ready...but I am WILLING. I am determined. I have to recover.
